THE MOVIE

Gigantic adventures on microscopic scales

The most watched program in seven star systems has finally arrived on Earth. Micronaut, the great space explorer, will explore this immense and exotic planet, but for this difficult task, Micronaut will count on the help of cadet Keka and Xb-12, his little robot companion. Planet Earth can be incredibly dangerous when you are only 30 microns tall; a small ant can be the scariest creature you have ever seen! The short film is aimed at preschool children, has educational and scientific objectives, which is where its social and cultural value lies.

THE FACTS

Animation made using images from electron microscopy

It's strange how something so close to us can seem incredibly extraterrestrial. The scenes where Micronauta, cadet Keka and Xb-12 live their adventures are captured using an electronic microscope (an unprecedented resource in the use of an audiovisual product), that is, the character's interaction takes place on real images, in real scale, always strictly respecting this. After all, Micronauta (our protagonist) is 30 microns tall, not a single micron less (a micron corresponds to one thousandth of a millimeter, also called a micrometer). This special care with scale is important for the short film due to its scientific content. It is expected that it will function as a gigantic microscope, right there, in the living rooms of those who follow the story, in the classrooms where it is shown. With this, children have potential universes of exploration in their own world, inspired by the arrival of Micronauta's ship to our planet, now wondering about the scientific characteristics of the elements they already know.

THE MISSION

Democratization of scientific knowledge, primarily for preschool children (up to 6 years old, early childhood education audience), but not limited to this age group, since the cultural product generated is freely classified and is freely available in its accessible versions, on the project's YouTube channel. The aim is also to disseminate this knowledge in a more comprehensive manner, since Micronauta describes on a microscopic scale the environment that surrounds us and that is common to all of us. The images captured and used in the short film are present in the animation made available openly on the internet and also in the generation of support material for teachers to use the short film pedagogically in the classroom, making a very expensive piece of equipment such as the Scanning Electron Microscope available in a certain way in classrooms of any school with internet access.

All cultural products generated by the project are distributed 100% free of charge to schools, enhancing the democratization of access.
